about

“Maybe Chance…” describes the confusion of self-identity I had when I was young. Not being sure who I was, who to call family and who to call friends. It’s a song about being lonely despite being surrounded by people.

The song is sad, and references my own twinge of discomfort that I still feel if ever I'm called strange, or weird. Something that's bothered me since I was a child. It’s about longing for a belonging, the desire for a father figure and a role model.

The middle of the song builds up and represents a building of tension, anger and stress before breaking out of this cycle of confusion and sadness with a scream.

They ray of hope in this song is being able to call on one person, someone close to you, who you know will come to see you when you need them to and help you feel better.

lyrics

You know it hurts me when you claim
that I act a little strange
When you gaze upon my face
do you feel I feel the pain

But is it any wonder that I'm confused at all

And I just want you to know that I need you here back home
And I've taken steps out on my own
But it’s drier than a desert and you burn when you’re alone
So come on dear…. Maybe I’ll see you soon

I took the train back home today
maybe the rails will keep me sane
my destinations the same
maybe I'm the one who’s changed

But is it any wonder that I'm confused at all

And I just want you to know that I need you here back home
And I've taken steps out on my own
But it’s colder than December and you freeze when you’re alone
So come on dear…. Maybe I’ll see you soon

So here’s the final curtain honey, the blood left on my sleeve,
I’ve been dancing round forever so cue the final killer scene
I’ve believed for years in nothing, you've believed far less in me
maybe chance will be a fine thing you’ll cut my shackles free
so taste the sugar coating doesn't sweetness feel so grand
does my song meet your approval?l does my heart meet your demands?
I’ll leave my keys upon the table, my glass against the door,
and the contents of my mirror across my bedroom floor

And I just want you to know that I need you here back home
And I've taken steps out on my own
But it’s deeper than an ocean and I drown when I'm alone
So come on dear…. Maybe I’ll see you soon
