REVIEWS:

"This is an absolutely stellar, beautiful first release, which could be likened to, and on a par with, acts such as Jacks Mannequin, City And Colour and even some Third Eye Blind. With his début EP “Human Minds” in the works, it wont be long before he is hitting the airwaves across the country." - GotGrog.com

"From Brighton, UK, Wayne Tomsett is one of the few artists who completely embodies every reason why unsigned music is just as worth listening to as signed or mainstream artists. His debut release, “Deceiver”, a folky, acoustic track, is beautiful in every area- the arrangement, composition, and performance is as flawless as it gets." - RedFluxRadio.com

"Tomsett surprises with his acoustic folk/pop offering, and even more so with his vocals. Broken and quite brittle, his singing voice carries emotion in every note. Wayne has a natural ability to keep his music exciting. Beautiful, uplifting and kind – this is definitely one to remember." - SQ Magazine

"Wayne has a nice clear sound and lyrics that have meaning to him and others. Adding this to his intrinsic understanding of song structure, melody, harmony and rhythm makes for a remarkable listening. So take a listen to him" - Trashcan Radio

"The single’s subtle opening of acoustic guitar and strings laid gently under vocal harmonies instantly grabs your attention. The phrasing of the song is great; each section building into the other and creating more emotion as the story unfolds. Wayne has clearly demonstrated his love and understanding of a good melody here as well as songwriting as a whole" - AltSounds.com

"Next up we have one of my favourite tracks on this particular podcast. When I was told about it I really didn't know what to expect. It's by a guy called Wayne Tomsett. Wayne is a metal vocalist, and most of the stuff I've heard from him has been particularly savage. But when I heard this, I was really, really blown away. I expected shouting, I expected it to be really heavy. I didn't in a million years expect anything like this" - Sound & Motion Podcast

"Wayne Tomsett sings like the imaginary lovechild of Brian Molko and Tracy Chapman" - Quiet Rebel

ABOUT THE TRACK "DECEIVER"

The song "Deceiver" is about the remnants and fallout of a teenage relationship, and is about being continuously lied to and cheated on by someone you think cares about you, finding out the truth makes you feel like your heart has been crushed. Teenage love is so powerful, and often so painful as it's an immature love - emotions are at their extremes.

It's a personal song - written from the point of view of a friend who breaks the bad news, and confronts the girl to tell her how horrible she is, underlined in the sarcastic and sardonic lyric "I hope you're proud of what you've become".

As personal as the song is, I think anyone can relate to it if you've ever been deceived by someone in that way.

This song will form part of the "Human Minds" EP due out at Christmas. All proceeds from sales until the end of the 2013 are to be donated to Cancer Research.

lyrics

Well I guess you're a deceiver
You never loved him any way

He always said he'd never leave her
I guess she didn't want to stay so...

Shut up, shut up, shut up,
You've had your time to talk, and I'm talking now
And I hope you're proud of what you've become
You just cause pain

He wants you to know
That he hasn't let go
And he doesn't love anyone else

So never look back and don't you, dare take that call
She's a heart bleeder – I hope you never see her no
So shield your heart from the sun, and keep your hands off the gun
You're just another prize, is she worth the fight,
you're on the borderline, you nearly lost your mind
Because the truth hurts, don't you know?

I never liked you when I met you
Thought you were trouble from the start

He's always blind to your distractions
You nearly tore him apart so...

Get out, get out, get out
You've done enough for now, can't you see he's down
And I hope you're proud of what you've become,
You've just caused pain

He wants you to know
That he hasn't let go
And he doesn't love anyone else

So never look back and don't you, dare take that call
She's a heart bleeder – I hope you never see her no
So shield your heart from the sun, and keep your hands off the gun
You're just another prize, is she worth the fight,
you're on the borderline, you nearly lost your mind
Because the truth hurts, don't you know?
