about

Broken Beyond Repair is a song about a fundamental break down between two people. It could be friends, it could be relatives, it could be a family, or people in a romantic relationship.

The people involved is irrelevant to the story of the song, because the thing that stays the same across all those situations is what you feel when someone that used to be close to you, becomes more emotionally detached from you than a stranger in another country.

This isn't a song about hatred, it's a song about sadness - wishing that things didn't turn out the way they did, thinking back to a time when you were still together, still close, still friends. The regret fuels a desire to patch things up before time takes it's toll and you do become strangers in the truest sense of the word.

lyrics

It seems as though we're at the start again
It's all too easy
To say we're sorry
Move on and pretend

Let's try not to forget what we said
It's time to worry
That we're cold and we're empty
but we're sitting on the fence

Should we try to start again
before the cracks in our foundations
turn the stone back in to sand
and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land
but it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair

My watch is slowing and doesn't keep the time
This moments wasted
I'm trying to face it
I'm stuck in a lie

Keep a memory of times gone by
When we were once happy
When we were once stupid
When we were once free

Should we try to start again
before the cracks in our foundations
turn the stone back in to sand
and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land
and it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair

Should we try to start again
before the cracks in our foundations
turn the stone back in to sand
and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land
and it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair
