Here's a list of broken things I've crushed all the better things I had, when I was young You're a coloured butterfly who flutters dust in to my eyes The haze the blur its' gorgeous Here is all I am watch as I pour my heart In to a glass of your design I wrote you a letter full of sweet and bitter metaphors Because you left me breathless I ran out of words to say I'm dumbstruck under you gaze I smile and hope you hear me Here is all I am watch as I pour my heart In to a glass of your design Here I stand All flaws and circumstance Watch me crash land In to your arms I wrote you a letter full of sweet and bitter metaphors Because you left me breathless I ran out of words to say I'm dumbstruck under you gaze I smile and hope you hear me Here is all I am watch as I pour my heart In to a glass of your design

I know what I'd like to be Full of clarity, eloquence and class But it seems the words are stuck In a right little rut And my brain's got such a case of nerves Now hang on a second while I stop to think See, I try to concentrate And keep everything locked up in my mind But it's a mess in my head Full of songs and regrets Some of them spill out of my face It seems I've remembered what I tried to say You know, I'm breathless again, tired and exasperated Short on breathing again, I feel inebriated I stumble over letters and gaps in my words that muddle up expressions that I try to form But as long as you know what I'm trying to say then it's all fine I'm just fine Here's a secret for you It's something that I try to keep quiet It seems you're confused I'm a tad misconstrued I'm not really a confident guy It seems I've remembered what I tried to say You know, I'm breathless again, tired and exasperated Short on breathing again, I feel inebriated I stumble over letters and gaps in my words that muddle up expressions that I try to form But as long as you know what I'm trying to say then it's all fine I'm just fine Here's all that I've wanted to be heard, to be loved, for my words Listen, please be my soundboard, as your smile is the cure for my nerves (Speaking from my heart means that I stumble over terms) (and my songs express the truth of being stuck with the absurd) (Although I try to concentrate and focus on my words) (The meanings fall to pieces as I try to make them work) You know, I'm breathless again, tired and exasperated Short on breathing again, I feel inebriated I stumble over letters and gaps in my words that muddle up expressions that I try to form But as long as you know what I'm trying to say then it's all fine I'm just fine

It seems as though we're at the start again It's all too easy To say we're sorry Move on and pretend Let's try not to forget what we said It's time to worry That we're cold and we're empty but we're sitting on the fence Should we try to start again before the cracks in our foundations turn the stone back in to sand and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land but it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair My watch is slowing and doesn't keep the time This moments wasted I'm trying to face it I'm stuck in a lie Keep a memory of times gone by When we were once happy When we were once stupid When we were once free Should we try to start again before the cracks in our foundations turn the stone back in to sand and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land and it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair Should we try to start again before the cracks in our foundations turn the stone back in to sand and the river floods the life that used to roam across this land and it's time that we come to say, we're broken beyond repair

Fragment Two 01:00
London is calling, rain is falling, to the sound of broken strings, and broken things. But maybe the grey will wash away the pain. So goodbye, and goodnight to yesterday. I'll try to make myself better. I'll try, to make our lives better. To make us better.

about

Recorded in sessions at Clementine studio with long time friend, engineer & producer Simon Clemas, "Songs & Regrets" is a 4 track EP that enunciates and emphasises the folk roots of Wayne Tomsett's music. Using a stripped back production style and traditional percussion, this is a very special, unique and gorgeous collection of personal, confessional songs.

These songs are included on the special edition CD release of "Human Minds" available here: waynetomsett.bandcamp.com/merch

REVIEWS:

"Musically and lyrically beautiful - emotive and stunning" - Crawley Music Scene

"This is an absolutely stellar, beautiful first release, which could be likened to, and on a par with, acts such as Jacks Mannequin, City And Colour and even some Third Eye Blind. With his début EP “Human Minds” in the works, it wont be long before he is hitting the airwaves across the country." - GotGrog.com

"From Brighton, UK, Wayne Tomsett is one of the few artists who completely embodies every reason why unsigned music is just as worth listening to as signed or mainstream artists. His debut release, “Deceiver”, a folky, acoustic track, is beautiful in every area- the arrangement, composition, and performance is as flawless as it gets." - RedFluxRadio.com

"Tomsett surprises with his acoustic folk/pop offering, and even more so with his vocals. Broken and quite brittle, his singing voice carries emotion in every note. Wayne has a natural ability to keep his music exciting. Beautiful, uplifting and kind – this is definitely one to remember." - SQ Magazine

"Wayne has a nice clear sound and lyrics that have meaning to him and others. Adding this to his intrinsic understanding of song structure, melody, harmony and rhythm makes for a remarkable listening. So take a listen to him" - Trashcan Radio

"The single’s subtle opening of acoustic guitar and strings laid gently under vocal harmonies instantly grabs your attention. The phrasing of the song is great; each section building into the other and creating more emotion as the story unfolds. Wayne has clearly demonstrated his love and understanding of a good melody here as well as songwriting as a whole" - AltSounds.com

"Next up we have one of my favourite tracks on this particular podcast. When I was told about it I really didn't know what to expect. It's by a guy called Wayne Tomsett. Wayne is a metal vocalist, and most of the stuff I've heard from him has been particularly savage. But when I heard this, I was really, really blown away. I expected shouting, I expected it to be really heavy. I didn't in a million years expect anything like this" - Sound & Motion Podcast

"Wayne Tomsett sings like the imaginary lovechild of Brian Molko and Tracy Chapman" - Quiet Rebel

"Songs and Regrets complied of four tracks is written beautifully. Each song tells a story, but one that you can easily relate to whilst enjoying the cleverly written rhymes. The traditional percussion flatters the acoustic guitar and it feels stripped back but still intricately knitted together to create a beautiful concoction. The E.P is one to die for" - Sound & Motion Magazine
